I’m slowly trying to build a collection of art books. They’re quite expensive, so it’s not a fast growing collection, but I’ve found like postcard books have been a good place to start (and often come up in charity shops for cheap).
I decided that I wanted to do a quick (10 minute) sketch of a Degas ballerina, coping from my postcard book I have.
I’ve quite enjoyed being a bit more heavy handed and committed to mark making this year.
I wasn’t inspired by today’s prompt word. Instead I had a think about the things I feel confident drawing and went from there. My go to thing to draw is trees, especially branches, in fact especially where the branches get thinner and (I guess) weaker?
Today I decided to try and create an mysterious forest scene. I realised that I’m not really sure how to create depth or fog effects using pen, so I thought I’d practise today.
It’s not perfect, and I was going to spend longer on it but decided that I’d already spent enough time on it for one day. Maybe I’ll have another go when I feel like I can devote a bit more time to it.
I’ve been drawing a lot of trees this inktober. I guess that’s just something that’s familiar to cling to when I’m not sure what to draw.
