Thought I’d share a quick design board sent to someone last week for their commission.
Once I get started, I really love the planning stage must more than I used to. Truth be told, I used to find it the most pain-staking part. Maybe because I was doing more technical drawings?
Mapping out the under-drawing once the design is chosen is still probably my least favourite step, but I know it’s the most important. I think my natural state lends itself more to a “big idea and then skip to loads of colour” kind of approach.
I haven’t worked on anything involving putting together different elements of a background in a while, so I’m very excited to get stuck in and add in the colour when I do get to that stage. It’ll be watercolour on canvas so should have some very satisfying sections to it.
