Inktober 2020 – Day 1

My dad came up with a theme for this year – shop fronts.

Work is pretty full on and will likely be for the whole of this month. When did I become one of those people working 11 hour days?

That does mean my Inktober entries are going to have to be pretty simple this year. Usually I find two copic marker colours and just stick to them and pen. This year though I have not planned that far ahead.

I quite enjoyed the lack of pressure from just doodling something. I wanted to try freehand but I’m not sure it’s for me really. Maybe I’ll stick to straight lines for the next store front.

I’m wondering if maybe I should do another challenge in November where I paint one of the store fronts each day. I love watercolour painting but doing the Christmas cards made me realise how slow I am. I think there is a watercolour painting challenge in November already. Anyone know what it’s called?

Ever since I was a child, I've loved art. I could do it for hours and hours and hours. Over the years I've fallen back in love with art and now design and sell digital and watercolour pieces.

  1. It’s called Doodlewash! I’ve got friends that do that every year. But they also do watercolor year round.

I’ve never been able to do it. My attempts at watercolor usually end up looking like a cross between a Rorschach test and toddler vomit.
