Inktober 2019 – Day 13: Ash

Ok, this is not my best.

I wasn’t sure what to do for this prompt word, and my partner suggested a Phoenix.

When I looked at reference pictures, they were all very stylised, so I decided to look at reference pictures of eagles.

Let’s be honest, it’s not a good drawing, but I had fun! Once I stopped caring so much about the outcome it became easier to just have a go and layer different colours.

So, lets pretend this Phoenix hasn’t so much ‘risen from the ashes’ but rather was rudely awaken and super groggy.

    1. Thank you, that’s very kind! I think how frustrated you are about things like resource photos can make all the difference to how you feel about a drawing, so I think I was just especially bored of it when I finally posted it! I’ll check out your Inktober now!
